Summary

The Giovannini family have been making wine in the Imola region of Emilia-Romagna since1965. The Imola region is specifically located just east of Bologna and claims to be the true home of the Sangiovese di Romagna grape. Today the company is managed by 3rd generation Jacopo Giovannini. Jacopo is in his early 30’s and works solely with his father Gorgio, where they manage the vineyards, winery and commercial aspects of Cantina Giovannini.

In 2013, Jacopo converted all his vineyards to organic farming, and he farms 16 hectares planted to Sangiovese, Albana and Trebbiano, and 1 hectare dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon. Jacopo’s main goal is to create a wines that are pure expressions of the territory and has led him to use concrete tanks and amphora for vinification.
