Summary

Azienda Ettore Germano is based in Serralunga d’Alba. Since 1993 it has been in the hands of the family’s fourth generation- Sergio Germano. In addition to growing up learning his family traditions he also completed studies at the school of Enology in Alba, and made wine for a few years at Fontanafredda, one of the largest wineries in the area.

Being a lover of white wines, Sergio sought out and planted a vineyard in the village of Cigliè, in the neighboring Alta Langa region. With an altitude of 1800 feet above sea level, with limestone soil & stone soils, Sergio bet on it being ideal for growing Riesling, Chardonnay. He wasn’t wrong, and in 2001, with the birth of the new DOC Alta Langa classic method sparkling wine, one hectare of Pinot Noir was planted to produce sparkling wine called Rossana. With a small plot purchase in the Lazzarito vineyard, one of the historic vineyards of Serralunga, and adjacent to the old plots in Cerretta, of about one hectare, the estate now has 10 hectares of vineyards in Serralunga, for red wines, and 5 hectares Cigliè dedicated to producing white & sparkling wines.
