Summary

Frascole is based in the village of Dicomano in the northern area of Tuscany’s Chianti Rufina DOC. There higher altitude vineyards are at the crossroads where the Mugello valley ends and the Valdisieve begins, and where the Comano and Sieve rivers flow together. The vineyards rises from an altitude of 350 meters at the Pieve di S. Jacopo to the 470 meters at the Castello del Pozzo in the foothills of the Apennines.

Frascole is a small, family-owned and operated by Enrico and Elisa. The property links its origins in medieval times, which in turn were built upon previous Etruscan and Roman buildings amid vineyards and olive groves. In the first half of the 1990s the houses started undergoing renovation which was completely finished by the end of the decade. The family lives in two of these homes.

Enrico and Elisa farm 15 hectares of vineyards alongside of 9 hectares of olive groves, which they produce world class olive oil. The estate has been farmed organically since 1998. Work in the cellar is kept to a minimum. I.E. all Fermentations are in concrete or stainless steel, only indigenous yeasts are used, and minimal SO2 just before bottling.
