Pinot Noir Yamhill Carlton
VARIETAL
Pinot Noir
NOTES
(Dijon clones 114, 115, 113, 777 and Wadenswil)
VINEYARD: Sourced from 8 separate blocks located on the Belle Pente Estate.
VINIFICATION: Fewer than 15% of the barrels used were new, and over half were at least 4 years old.
TASTING NOTES: At first, 2017 looked like an extreme opposite to 2016, with a very late bud break and bloom following a wet rainy season. However, abnormally warm and dry months then took over and the heat gave full ripeness to the fruit despite a large crop load. September's 2+ inch rainfall had only a refreshing impact and coincided with the cooler weather which meant acid brightness was well-retained. Normal harvest timing and excellent picking weather yielded complexity along with the riper flavors.
