Trousseau

NOTES
VINEYARD: Sisters Vineyard, from a block planted in 2012 (Willamette Valley’s first). 1.6 Acres (0.65 Hectares). Planted in 1989 and originally named after the three Pinot Sisters: Pinot Noir, Blanc, and Gris, this 21 acre site now hosts 8 varieties and is used as Eyrie's station for exploring new rootstocks, varieties, and clones. The soil type is volcanic basalt, overlain with a thin layer of granitic sediments.

VINIFICATION: No sulfur added at any step of the process. Natural yeast, no cold soaks or extractive processes, hand pigeaged three times per day for 15 days. Aged for 6 months in neutral French oak, full indigenous malo. 336 cases produced

TASTING NOTES: The vividly red wine has aromas of dark berries, loam, and baking spices. Acidity and smoothness are perfectly balanced on the palate, with evolving flavors of herbs and fruits such as blackberry, pomegranate, and rhubarb. Light tannins combine with a precise, long finish to suggest promising aging ability.

PRESS/RATINGS: This ethereally fragrant, perfumed and delicate light red has such charming and attractive laciness in terms of aromas, flavors and textures. Herb-wrapped strawberies and a peppery edge to the palate make for a super fresh, delicious and salty palate. Super refreshing and full of character. Drink now. 93 (James Suckling, JAMESSUCKLING.COM, 5.1.2019)
