Pink Rose
VARIETALS
80 % Zweigelt and 20 % Blaufränkisch
NOTES
VINEYARD: Most of the grapes for the rosé come from the bottom of the vineyard hill, as here the grapes have a little less sugar and a bit more acidity – Judith prefers to keep the grapes from the slopes for the red wines.
VINIFICATION: Grapes were hand-harvested from selected parcels during the 3rd week of August - early, to ensure freshness and bright acidity in the very ripe 2019 vintage. 90% of the fruit was direct-pressed while 10% of Blaufrankisch was saignée. The varietals were vinified separately. Fermentation began with native yeasts and the wine aged in stainless steel tanks at low temperature on its fine lees for 4 months. Varietals were blended in December and underwent MLF. Bottling took place in January.
TASTING NOTES: Bright hue, enticing, vivid aromas and flavors of red cherry, raspberry, and currants. This is a refreshing and pure rosé which complements a wide range of foods.
