Muschén Marche Rosso
VARIETALS
Approximately half Sangiovese with the balance split nearly evenly between Merlot and Cabernet Franc
NOTES
VINEYARD: Sangiovese is from an estate vineyard planted on limestone and sand: calcareous soils. Merlot and Cabernet Franc are from another estate vineyard planted on clay and sand.
VINIFICATION: Grapes are de-stemmed, fermented separately, blended after fermentation, followed by four days maceration. The wine remains on its lees in stainless steel tanks for three months, after which it's bottled by the end of May/ beginning of June after harvest.
“Muschén” is a fruit fly in the local dialect. This pesky little insect is Alberto’s nickname given to him by his grandfather, Libero.
