NOTES
VINEYARD: Located in the Cidacos Valley of Rioja Baja, this area is generally too hot for wine production; Rioja Baja is significantly warmer than either Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Alta. However, the higher elevation areas in Rioja Baja do grow some distinctive wines. It’s also quite common to find organic wines in this area due to the paucity of pest activity. The vineyard where the grapes for Prana are sourced is the highest elevation plot - at 700m asl - on the estate.
VINIFICATION: Grapes are hand-harvested then 50% of the fruit undergoes carbonic maceration while the other 50% is de-stemmed and undergoes traditional crushing maceration. The fermentation is with wild yeasts in both cases. Miniscule addition of SO2 at bottling. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
