Pinot Noir Herrenreben

Varietal
100% Pinot Noir

Notes

VINEYARD: "Herrenreben" means " the vines of the Noblemen" because this part of the vineyard formerly belonged to the Noblemen of Ribeaupierre who were already cultivating Pinot Noir at this site, in the 15th century. The vineyard’s granite soil is stony, sandy and very high in silica made of granite with a fractured granite base. Vines are planted on hillsides at the entrance of a valley with a high elevation from 400 to 450 m a southern / south-western exposure to the sun. Vines are between 40-50 years old.

VINIFICATION: Malolactic fermentation and aging in oak barrels, renewed by one quarter each year over the course of 12 months

TASTING NOTES: A deep ruby color with garnet reflections, with a well-developed nose, first presenting intense perfumes of red and blue berries like cherries, strawberries, blackcurrants, then developing more complex spicy notes. On the palate after a supple entry, it shows an impressive power and well-balanced by a nice touch of freshness, which adds elegance and complexity. The aromatic expression supported by the minerality and silky tannins, is particularly intense and lingering. An ideal complement to flavorful meats like rib of beef, leg of lamb, wild game or cheeses such as Camembert and Brie.
