Riesling Herrenreben
Varietal
100% Riesling
Notes
VINEYARD: 1.5ha vineyard situated on a south/southwest exposure between 400 - 450m.
VINE AGE: 40 years
SOIL: Light sandy soils made of decomposed granite, with a fractured granite sub-soil.
FARMING: Sustainable practices. No chemical fertilizers are used, natural grassing between rows - alternating with plantings of rye in the winter (to reduce erosion and improve soil structure). Vines are traditionally trained, with single Guyot cane pruning for most varietals.
VINIFICATION: Grapes are manually harvested, and clusters are preserved and intact when they arrive to the winery. Gravity-flow set up. Each parcel is pneumatically whole-cluster pressed, and fed into temperature controlled stainless tanks. Fermentation is temperature controlled.
TASTING NOTES: Bright straw yellow with gold highlights. Intense and aromatic nose full of citrus fruit and floral overtones with an underlying mineral nuance, Firm and pleasant on the palate, with full fruit flavors and a mineral finish. An excellent example of a Riesling from granite soils. Pairs well with a variety of appetizers, shellfish, white meats in creamy sauces or fresh and creamy cheeses.
