Familia Furlotti Malbec

Varietal
Malbec

Notes
Exactly 100 years after her great-grandfather bought his first winery, Gabriela Furlotti harvested her first grapes for the Familia Furlotti, uniting past and present in the belief that wine is an art that begins in the vineyard. Today, the Furlotti family preserves the tradition of getting the best out of the old vines to produce wines that reflect the fundamental character of the soil and the grapes. Bodega Furlotti refines wines from the grapes from its estates in Lunlunta and Altamira in its own winery.

Finca Adalgisa is the flagship wine under the Furlotti ownership.

VINEYARD: Old vine malbec (planted in 1936) from a site at 3300 ft asl. Lunlunta is a small sub-region of Mendoza, Argentina located on the northern edge of the Lunlunta hills along the course of the Mendoza River. The area straddles both the Maipu and Lujan de Cuyo administrative departments. Lunlunta shares a similar terroir to much of Mendoza, with the high altitude of the vineyards playing a big part in viticulture. The proximity to Mendoza River creates alluvial soil types that are found throughout the region.

VINIFICATION: Cluster selection table and destemming. Cooling of the must for a short pre-fermentation maceration at 15-20oC Spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts and controlled temperatures between 26 - 28oC. Gentle extractions through pump-overs and délestage. Moderate post-fermentation maceration. Drawing off and pressing. Malolactic fermentation. Filtered and bottled. Thirty percent of the wine is aged in used French oak barrels for 8 months, and 12 months in a bottle before release.
