Summary
Adèle Rouzé is the daughter of Jacques Rouzé, a well-respected vigneron who is also the president of the Quincy wine brotherhood. So, Quincy, the vines, and winemaking has been always been a big part of who she is. In 2003, after completing additional studies in winemaking in Bordeaux, Adèle returned to her home with the idea of making her own cuvée. Jacques allowed her parts of some old-vine parcels, all of which face either south or southeast, to create domaine Adele Rouze.
Today she farms 4.6 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc vines all by herself, and the parcels are spread across four plots with their own unique characteristics and soil composition., and some of her parcels were planted between 1920 and 1930, others during the 1950’s. The vineyards are not organic, but she uses the principles of lutte raisonée (or responsible farming), where only natural products are used in the soil and spraying is kept to a minimum in Quincy's very damp and mildew wrought appellation. The yields average 45 hl/ha.
