Summary
The domaine Michel and Damien Pinon is a 3 generational farm family working 25 hectares of vines in the municipality of Vernou on Brenne. Today Damien and his wife Ingrid manage the vineyards, and Michel focuses his attention to the cellar.
The soils are calcareous clay, which develop rich Chenin Blanc wines that are balanced and fruity. The vines average 30 years old and is partially renewed every year, but they also work some parcels of much old vines. Utmost importance is given to methods of vineyard management, so farming at Domaine Pinon is non-certified organic. The Pinon’s are constantly trying to restore the ecological balance of the land needed to ensure sustainability of their land. Winemaking is minimal using only natural indigenous yeast and aged lees aging to emphasize terroir.
