Malbec Pinot Noir "Jijiji" Tupungato

Varietals
50% Malbec, 50% Pinot Noir

Notes
VINEYARD: Tupungato Winelands - a 250 acre vineyard at 4,000ft elevation. Planted on stony/limestone soils in 2007.

VINIFICATION: Grapes are hand harvested. Fifty percent carbonic maceration and then pressed to finish fermentation in stainless steel vats. The wine then spends 6 months in large concrete vat before release.

TASTING NOTES: This blend of 50% Malbec and 50% Pinot Noir is all hand harvested from a single vineyard in Gualtallary. The wine sees some carbonic maceration and has a huge vibrant nose of red fruit, violets. Good acid lifts the mid-palate with notes of rhubarb, red cherry, orange peel, ash, crushed stone, mushroom, gunpowder, and flint. This vintage is bottled without going through malolactic fermentation and is brighter and higher toned than previous vintages.
