NOTES

VINEYARD: Massa Estate (Carmel Valley). Forty year-old vines, dry-farmed, certified organic, grown at 1500 feet elevation. One of the dreamiest vineyards in California.

VINIFICATION: The grapes were hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel and neutral French oak barrels. The wines were aged for 5 months before being bottled for secondary fermentation. It was then aged 12 months en tirage before being disgorged by hand at the winery. No part of the process is automated or outsourced to another facility. This sparkler has the pressure of a Cremant. No dosage was added.
4 barrels produced

TASTING NOTES: White nectarine, pear, lemon peel. Always For Pleasure is a film by Les Blank (a filmmaker who lived in Berkeley for 30 years). He dedicated his career to filming movies about fascinating people on the periphery of society. His style of cinéma vérité was joyful, quiet, and compassionate, values Hammerling upholds in their winemaking and lives.
