Poggio al Commessario Rosso

VARIETALS
60% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 15% Alicante

NOTES
FARMING: Certified organic

SOIL: Clay with fractured sandstone soil 

VINEYARD: The vineyards are Cessa del Civettaio and Poggio al Commessario ( Commessario means policeman --- Maremma used to be a land of bandits)

VINIFICATION:  The grapes are picked by hand and carefully selected directly in the vineyards over several passes: first Merlot, and lastly the Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes arrive in the cellar, transported in small cases, where they are pressed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats and in oak tanks. At the end of the malolactic fermentation the wines are blended and aged in oak and in bottle. The wine is not filtered before bottling.
