NOTES

VINEYARD: Dick Vanderkous Solitude Vineyard. Johanna calls this vineyard "The Volcano" because it was planted on its own distinct peak (Solitude Peak) amongst the rolling Contra Costa hills. Dick and Mary Lou Vanderkous planted this extraordinary vineyard over 20 years ago surrounding their home estate.

VINIFICATION: This field blend was picked in two different picks as the hillside portion ripened earlier than the the hilltop portion of the vineyard. Grapes were de-stemmed to maintain acid, and there were light punch downs twice per day. Fermented in two weeks and pressed at zero brix. Neutral oak barrel aging for 18 months and bottle aged for another 6 months before release. Unfined/unfiltered, native yeast fermentation.
