Laberinto Cenizas Pinot Noir
VARIETAL
Pinot Noir
NOTES
VINEYARD: Rafael Tirado's home vineyard Laberinto planted on volcanic ash over granite soil in 1993. Much of his vineyard is planted in various orientations, some of which are planted in the shape of a labyrinth.
VINIFICATION: Following the manual harvest then native yeast fermentation, the grapes are macerated for over two weeks before being transferred to neutral French oak barrels for one year. Bottled unfined and unflitered.
TASTING NOTES: The wine shows crushed red fruit of raspberry and strawberry with hints of eucalyptus. Undertones of wet forest floor and baking spices of clove and cinnamon come through on the finish. The oak is well integrated and lets the terroir-driven fruit shine.
PRESS/RATINGS: A Pinot Noir from Colbún in the Maule Andes; clones 777, 115 and Davis planted in volcanic soils. A fairly intense red in color, the pleasant nose contains cherries and strawberries over a bed of earth. Complete and classical, it takes you by surprise on the palate with the chalky texture, gentle, juicy tannins and heightened freshness. A delicious wine.
