The Boatman Red Blend
VARIETALS
Alicante Bouschet with smaller amounts Syrah and Zinfandel
NOTES
VINEYARD: Sourced from vineyards in Madera (Alicante Bouschet), Lodi (Zinfandel), and Monterey (Syrah)
VINIFICATION: Grapes were picked at dawn, then crushed and de-stemmed quickly to tanks while still cold. After a long cold soak, fermentation was initiated, tanks were allowed to heat up for maximum extraction of fruit and color. The fermenting wine was pumped over twice a day to give the yeast plenty of oxygen for a nice clean fermentation. Once dry, the grapes were lightly pressed off the skins before bottling.
