Chango Red Blend
Varietals
65% Malbec, 20% Tannat, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon
Notes
VINEYARD: Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon are grown in Altamira in the Uco Valley (Mendoza) on two vineyard sites: Delfina and Angulo (clay/limestone). Tannat is grown in Cafayete (Salta) on one site, Rias, on sandy loam. All three vineyards are relatively young as they were all planted in 2007.
VINIFICATION: Hand harvested. Pre-fermentation maceration for 4 days. Aged for 8 months (40% new French oak), and aged for an additional 6 months in bottle before release.
TASTING NOTES: The nose is layered with aromas of bright red fruit, citrus peel, sandalwood, dill, and sage. The palate is soft and smooth with notes of chocolate covered cranberries and bing cherries and a brine quality that leads into an earth-driven, mocha finish.
