NOTES
The wines of the “Mestre Daniel” range are DOC Alentejo-certified and are the wines that best represent the tradition of Talha wine. Mestre Daniel (1923-1985) produced Talha wine for about 30 years in the family's Adega, following the family tradition he inherited from his parents and grandparents. This wine, with its name, is a tribute to the current winemakers' grandfather.
This wine thus represents this long local and family tradition of Talha wine production which has passed from generation to generation in the village of Vila Alva.
VINEYARD: The vineyards are close to Vila Alva - where the winemaking team grew up together. The parish of Vila de Alva is located on the left bank of the Alvito river. The vines are on average 30 years old. The soil consists of shale and granite.
VINIFICATION: Total de-stemming and light press. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Maceration with the skins and seeds for two months in clay pots (talhas), without temperature control. It was not subjected to any filtration or stabilization process. Filtration occurs only through the passage of the liquid through the masses present in the talha. This wine is a blend of two talhas with a capacity of around 1000 liter each.
