Cutthroat Trout Blanc
VARIETALS
65% Pinot Noir 35% Chardonnay
NOTES
VINEYARD: The vineyard where this fruit is grown is called Settlers Hill, located in the South Salem Hills of the Willamette Valley AVA and faces due south. Comprised of Nekia, Hazelair and Steiwer soils, the vineyard was planted in 30 years ago on its own roots.
VINIFICATION: All Teutonic wines are fermented with wild yeast from the vineyard site with a yeast starter pied de cuve (with fruit collected from each vineyard). The Chardonnay had a few days on the skins before pressing off. The blend of the two were co-fermented in neutral oak barrels for 5 months and bottled in early February.
This is the first Pinot Noir Chardonnay blend for Teutonic. It leans dry and creamy on the palate.
Cutthroat is a type of trout that can be found west of Rockies. Barnaby loves fly fishing and was excited to finally have a “fish label” on one of his wines. Teutonic will be making a donation to Trout Unlimited, a non-profit that is dedicated to conserving, protecting and restoring rivers, streams and other water on which we all depend.
