NOTES
VINEYARD: Ankeny (formerly Settler's Hill) Vineyard in Salem. Self-rooted vines were planted in 1985 to volcanic soils. Farming practice is minimal intervention, dry-farming. No pesticides are used.
This site has an interesting history: in 1847, Oregon Trail pioneer Thomas Cox set out on a six-month journey to resettle his family from MO to the promising land of OR. He purchased a 321 acre parcel on Ankeny Hill, where he planted apple, pear, and peach orchards. He even developed his own peach variety he called Cox's Golden Cling. There is still one peach tree left on Ankeny Hill that is 150 years old.

VINIFICATION: Wild yeast was collected from the vineyard site (pied de cuvee). Following the manual harvest the grapes were de-stemmed, underwent a short skin maceration, then the juice was placed into neutral oak barrels until being bottled on 2/28/23.
