Summary

The Quinta is operated by the Vivas family. Great-grandfather of the current generation, Manuel Vivas, bought Quinta do Olival da Murta in the 1940s and increased his property and buildings over time while modernizing the wine cellar and the production cellar. Nowadays the farm belongs to four siblings (3 sisters and 1 brother), their mother and aunts. At this moment, there are 5 cousins (Joana, Mafalda, Madalena, Francisco and Jose) working at the Quinta and they all do a little bit of everything: viticulture, wine making and sales. The consulting winemaker is Rodrigo Martins.

Located in Cadaval, one hour north from Lisbon, near the Northwest slope of Serra de Montejunto, the Quinta is heavily influenced by the mountain range because the prevailing winds from the Atlantic Ocean are blocked by this natural barrier and cause high levels of rain and morning fog, even in summer, which is reflected in the freshness of the wines. Productions are small, in numbered bottle series and exclusively made with Portuguese grape varieties. Very small quantity of sulfites is added.
